How to Format Your Group's Slideshow

Intro

Slide 1: Title slide with your names & catchy title

Slide 2: Basic information about your amendment

Slide 3: Types of conflicts that arise under your amendment

The Cases

Next, for EACH case: CASES MUST BE IN CHRONOLIGICAL ORDER

Slide 1:   Name of the case & legal question that the case will answer

Slide 2:   Facts of the case (A brief summary of the case -1 paragraph)

Slide 3:   Arguments on each side of the case (4-6 bullet points on each side)

Slide 4: Placeholder slide - you will ask the class how the class would decide the case

Slide 5:  

  • The U.S. Supreme Court decided the case with a vote of ____-_____.  
  • Were there dissenting opinions or concurring opinions?
  • The legal reasons for the decision - explain WHY the court decided the case the way it did. (A  paragraph summarizing the majority opinion)

Slide 6: Big finish:  How does the case impact our lives today?

After all cases are outlined:

Last slide: Provide a link to a news clip showing how your amendment is interpreted or in question today.
