Process, Essay, & Presentation
Directions: Over the next few weeks you will participate in the research process (brainstorming, planning, research, drafting, peer review, editing, and final draft) as you work towards completing your research paper. Your research paper is argumentative in nature, meaning someone should be able to argue for or against your claim (the position you are taking in your paper). You will conduct research to find a minimum of four scholarly sources that support and refute (go against) the claim you are making in your paper. You will complete a research proposal to show you have put thought into the parts of your paper before you begin research and drafting your paper. Your essay must be typed in APA Formatting and include in-text citations and a Reference page.
The final draft of your essay will be worth 100 points. DUE DATE: _______________________
The process points throughout this unit will also be worth between 75-100 points.
Research Unit Process Checklist (steps to be completed as you work through the research unit):
Look over possible topics and select topics of interest for your paper. Conduct preliminary research to ensure you can find a minimum of four scholarly sources.
Complete your Research Proposal.
Conduct initial research. Find and utilize a minimum of four scholarly sources for your paper.
Following preliminary research, create a detailed thesis statement describing the focus of your paper.
Complete a rough draft of the Introduction and Background section of your essay. Submit a copy to Google Classroom by the due date.
Complete a rough draft of the Body Paragraphs of your essay. Submit a copy to Google Classroom by the due date.
Complete a rough draft of the Counterclaim and Conclusion of your essay. Submit a copy to Google Classroom by the due date.
Complete all Citation Requirements (In-text Citations and Reference page) in APA Formatting for your final draft.
Make final revisions based on teacher feedback and peer review comments.
Write the final draft of your research paper utilizing APA Formatting. Submit your paper to Turnitin.com by midnight on the assigned deadline.
